About Labradors
Here at Jackpot Farms, our Labradors are our heart and soul! We have bred Labrador Retrievers since 2000, and we just keep falling more and more in love with the breed! They are happy, funny, charming dogs, with a bit of a naughty streak, and we wouldn't have them any other way.
All About the Breed
So you're interested in a Labrador! There is nothing better than this breed; after all, they are America's number one dog.
While the Labrador is a wonderful addition to most any home, not all breeding programs are created equal. We only breed for a few litters a year, as we only breed when we plan to keep a puppy for ourselves. With that in mind, we put a lot of time, effort, and research into our dogs, our puppies, and the outside studs we use. We strive to produce a versatile dog, just as the breed should be. The AKC breed standard states that the Labrador should possess "the substance and soundness to hunt waterfowl or upland game for long hours under difficult conditions; the character and quality to win in the show ring; and the temperament to be a family companion," and we breed with that statement in mind. Our dogs can do their job as a hunting retriever, have won points and finished their Championships, and most importantly make amazing family pets.
Our Labradors tend to be fairly middle of the road when it comes to energy on a day to day basis, but most have the drive to do well in the field as a hunting Retriever as well. We have produced many puppies that have gone on to be wonderful hunting dogs for their owners! We do not breed for one extreme or the other, so no hyperactive "whippet" dogs, and no overdone, lumbering animals either; a Labrador should be moderate, and that is what we strive for!
